Stages of Waste Water Treatment Process.

Both domestic and industrial processes leads to variety of waste including solids, water and gases. These types of wastes are directed into the environment and cab e hazardous. The harm made to the environment can, however, be reduced by taking waste through treatment plants. The waste treatment process produces harmless products such as water, recycled products and harmless, biodegradable products. The treatment process for the waste depends on the source and type of waste. A typical waste product in both homes and industries is the wastewater. The wastewater treatment process involves various stages.

Wastewater from homes is normally treated in septic systems. Though the septic system is simple, it should always remain functional. However, septic systems serving large populations are complex since they have to absorb lots of waste. There are however waste water treatment plants for use in large residential estates and factories. There are manufacturers of wastewater treatment plants and can assist you in design and construction of wastewater treatment plants. The process needs to be carried out per the circumstances. The manufacturers have engineers who handle the project since its inception to monitoring and maintenance works. These are a sophisticated process that requires large investments. The water released from these systems are quality clean and therefore used at commercial levels.

The wastewater treatment plants involve three main stages. Water flows through pipes either by pumping or gravitational force to large reservoirs. There is removal of floating and suspending solids in the reservoirs. Centrifugal force is applied at this stage. The stage removes about 60% of the suspended solids. Removal of solids can be increased through addition of chemicals. water is then pumped to the secondary stage which is referred to as the organic stage. In this phase, the remaining biodegradable particles are provided as food to controlled organism such as fish. The organisms consume the biodegradable components in the water and remove the phosphates and nitrates in the water. About 80% of water impurities is removed at this stage. The water that is released into the environment at this stage is not harmful.

The third stage is however introduced to make the water pure. The phase is referred as the tertiary level and the water released is usable for a variety of uses. The water may be treated using various chemicals to ensure its safety. Chlorine is used by several firms though it have become a subject of debate in the recent.

Water pumped to the treatment plant should not contain industrial chemicals. The company that is producing water containing chemicals should remove these chemicals by having a treatment plant at their base.
